Questions!
How do you pronounce
your company name? Will-am-it is the
easiest pronunciation. And for Oregon Evergreen,
pronounce Oregon as Or-ah-gun.
Where did you get
the name from? The Willamette (Will-am-it)
Valley is one of the most beautiful in the U.S.
Bordered by the Cascades and Coast Range, the Willamette
River flows through the valley. The river was named by
the Indians. This area is well known for a diverse
agriculture; growing everything from Christmas trees to
vegetables. We are blessed by beautiful scenery and
perfect weather for growing evergreens. It seemed like
an appropriate name for us, although everyone sure can get
tongue-tied over it! The name also comes from the
first place we began gathering raw material -
The Willamette National Forest.
Where do you make
the wreaths and other hand-crafted products?
Our facility is an old cannery in Canby, Oregon, which is
perfect for our seasonal needs.
What months are you
in operation? We begin opening our plant in
mid-October. Next we start bringing down the evergreens
from the highest mountain elevations before they're snowed
in for the winter.
By mid-December we've finished all shipping and mail orders.
Then it's time to put a plant full of equipment into storage
for next year!
Do you cut down
trees to get your evergreens? Absolutely not!
That would be a terrible waste of our natural resources.
Have you ever driven by timber company lands that had very
tall and straight trees? Well, part of what makes them
so straight and tall is removing the lower branches every
two or three years. Also, the State and Federal Parks
are maintained by pruning lower branches. The trimming
actually keeps
fire danger down as the underbrush in the forest isn't as
thick. The trees also are able to grow straighter and
taller in the forests. Our crews know we only accept
smaller branches of evergreens.
How big of a company
are you? During our off-season, we look like a
pretty small company. But then during our season we
become Canby's largest employer with over 100 employee's!
And that's just our wreath plant! With all of our farm
operations for Christmas Trees, we're a pretty large company
for three months out of the year!
When does my order
need to be in? We'd sure appreciate having it
in by October 15th. Large orders need to be discussed
with Ed Hallett ahead of time, but generally we work with
you. Most orders are in by the first week of
November. After all, we have shipping to set up for
you!
Who designs your
products? We have a wonderful
Florist/Designer who has worked with us for 17 years now.
Sandy began as a wreath maker herself and is now one of our
primary managers. Whenever we get inquiries from
customers on custom wreaths, she's always the one who comes
up with our designs.
Where do your
Christmas Trees come from? Our tree farms are
located primarily in Molalla, Oregon. They are truly
'Oregon Grown'!
Will your evergreen
products (wreaths, garland) last in warmer climates?
If our wreaths are placed out of the sun and misted daily
with water, they'll last you all through the holiday season.
In northern climates, make sure they have a good misting
every few days. Each year we receive comments from
customers who had to take their wreaths down in April or
May! With proper care, yours can last for as long as
you need it.
What do I need to do
if any of my order should arrive damaged?
99.9% of our shipments have no problem at all. But
we've had a couple of instances where a box of centerpieces
has arrived all tossed around. We will gladly send you
some more immediately, provided you call us right away.
The carriers, like UPS, require that we contact them within
48 hours with a damage claim. Then they may want to
come out and inspect the packaging or see pictures before
they'll process a damage claim.
